Types of Single-ply Roofing Materials

Single-ply membranes come in several different styles.  Each has its own benefit, so a brief overview seems appropriate.

TPO – An abbreviation for Thermoplastic Polyolefin, TPO is a lightweight material that consists of a layer of material and a scrim reinforcement that helps prevent tearing. We use a hot air gun to weld the seams together and this creates leak-free seams. It can be installed directly over most existing substrates, reducing time and tear-off expense.

PVC – Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) consists of two layers of PVC and a third polyester layer. Heat-welded seams keep the PVC durable and fire-resistant while its light, reflective surface is energy-efficient. Typical PVC roofs can also withstand strong winds, chemicals and exposure to mold.

EPDM – Made from synthetic rubber compounds, EPDM is an eco-friendly material that offers significant waterproofing benefits. Available in 45, 60, and 90-mil rolls that are either black or white. We can roll it out on your existing roofing surface then fasten or adhere it mechanically to the cover board.
